Pickleball Launch at UAV – A Dynamic Start in the World of Sports

"Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad hosted a special sports event on April 22, 2024, at Complex M. The event, dedicated to introducing and promoting pickleball, a rapidly growing sport, was organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport and supported by our distinguished alumnus, Mr. Marius Socea-Falcă.

Pickleball, combining elements from tennis, badminton, and table tennis, is known for its accessibility and appeal to a wide range of ages and abilities. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students, alumni, and faculty at UAV to become familiar with this sport, learn its basic rules, and participate in practical demonstrations.

Mr. Marius Socea-Falcă, through his expertise and passion, successfully inspired and motivated participants. The interaction between students, alumni, and their professors in a dynamic sports setting brought added energy and enthusiasm.

We thank all participants who contributed to the success of this initiative and look forward to future activities.

World Autism Awareness Week

On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Psychology, and Social Work at "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad hosted the workshop World Autism Awareness Week – The Role of Partnership in Remedial Activities for Children with ASD.

The meeting aimed to highlight specific elements in assisting children with ASD, including strategies for supporting and guiding their caregivers.

The approach was intended to be holistic, inviting specialists from the field: Zagorka Milencovici, Special and Integrated Education Inspector, ISJ Arad; Cristina Gros, Specialist Clinical Psychologist, CSEI Arad; Ana Gavrilă, Clinical Psychologist, Pariter Center Arad; Patricia Turda, Educator, "Saint Mary" Special High School Arad.

Generations of Graduates at the "Ilarion V. Felea" Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Arad

The "Ilarion V. Felea" Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Arad, restored and renewed during the Bicentennial Year (2022), has updated its portraits of graduating classes, showcasing its work and mission over more than three decades as part of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.

At the initiative and with the involvement of Fr. Prof. Univ. Dr. Cristinel Ioja, Dean of the Faculty, along with Fr. Lect. Univ. Dr. Tiberiu Ardelean and Protos. Lect. Univ. Dr. Nicolae Tang, the portraits of graduating classes were restored and redesigned, becoming part of the academic heritage of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Arad. A significant portion of our alumni from each generation contributed to this project. Each portrait has been updated with new dimensions and an exterior design, tailored to the newly restored school space, facilitating access for future generations. This creates, in the hallways of the Arad Theological Institution, a true gallery that serves as a testament to the mission and work accomplished by the Faculty of Theology in Arad.

This project, aimed at enhancing the hallways of the faculty, will be further enriched in the future by adding portraits of graduates from the Theological Institute and Academy, bearing witness to the unity between Tradition and modernity and the continuity of Orthodox theological education in Arad.

December 9-10, 2023 - Hack4Arad – Second Edition

On December 9-10, 24 hours of work and 8 projects ready for implementation by the local administration were the results of the second Hackathon edition, organized by the Faculty of Exact Sciences in partnership with the Arad City Hall.

Three New Volumes from the "Arad Theologians" Collection Launched at Arad County Council

The "Ilarion V. Felea" Faculty of Theology, part of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad, organized the launch of three monographs from the "Arad Theologians" Collection on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 5:00 PM, in the "Vasile Goldiș" Hall of the Arad County Council.

The event was attended by His Eminence Timotei, Archbishop of Arad; Dr. Iustin Cionca, President of the Arad County Council; Dr. Ramona Lile, Rector of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad; Dr. Doru Sinaci, Deputy Prefect of Arad County; faculty members of the "Ilarion V. Felea" Orthodox Theology Faculty; historians, specialists, students, and a large audience of history and local tradition enthusiasts.

December 4-6, 2023 - Career School

An event held from December 4-6 in collaboration with BCR, which included practical sessions on creating an impactful Curriculum Vitae (CV) and effective techniques for approaching a job interview. This initiative provided students with the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to present themselves professionally to potential employers, increasing their chances of securing desired job positions.

November 16-17, 2023 - Blockchain Economics in Business and Research

On November 16 and 17, the Faculty of Exact Sciences was represented by students from the Computer Science and Computer Science (English) programs at #FEAATimisoara, which hosted the course "Blockchain Economics in Business and Research."

Taught by guest professor Roman Beck from IT University of Copenhagen, this course focused on familiarizing students with blockchain and DLT systems.

This initiative is part of the CyberWeek@UVT event.

November 9, 2023 - Visit to Leoni Company

On November 9, 2023, first-year students from the TCM, AR, and IS specializations of the Faculty of Engineering at UAV visited the Leoni company in Arad. The visit was coordinated by Associate Professor Dr. Ing. Tiberiu Mănescu.

A complete factory tour was organized, with the group guided by Leoni’s Technical Director, Mr. Dacian Ilca.

This visit was a real success, providing students with an initial exposure to the organizational culture of a renowned multinational company in the automotive field.

We thank our partners, Leoni Wiring Systems Arad, and hope to repeat this experience in the near future.

October 30, 2023 - TEX-RENEW, WORKSHOP - SUSTAINABLE TEXTILE WASTE VALORIZATION

Project Director: Prof. Dr. Ing. Ionel Barbu

On Monday, October 30, the final stage of the Tex-Renew project - A New Product from Textile Waste - was held within the Faculty of Engineering under the auspices of the UAV Student Entrepreneurial Society. This initiative focuses on establishing an Entrepreneurship Center for the sustainable valorization of textile waste within a circular economy.

Specific Objective, OS2 – Presenting business opportunities in textiles and sustainable textile waste valorization. An exhibition showcasing potential products that can be made from textile waste was held, with items produced in UAV’s laboratories.

Activities: A21 – Creating a portfolio of textile waste products, remanufactured by students participating in the project;

A22 – Organizing a workshop to present products made from textile waste through various valorization methods. Project leads: Eng. Ana Mureșan, Eng. 2013 Reunion of the Orthodox Theology Faculty Graduates in Arad

Ten years ago, the 19th class of undergraduate students in the Orthodox Pastoral Theology program completed their studies at the "Ilarion V. Felea" Faculty of Orthodox Theology, part of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.

A decade later, those graduates gathered again with heartfelt emotion and joy. The celebrations began with the Divine Liturgy in the Faculty Chapel, including a memorial service for professors who had passed away, led by Father Professor Dr. Lucian Farcașiu. In the Faculty's Aula Magna, professors, graduates, and their guests gathered for a roll call and to share each person’s accomplishments since graduation.

Consortium Meeting in the West

The meeting took place on January 11, 2018, at the ISJ Timiș headquarters, with representatives from educational institutions in the western region and business members of the consortium in attendance. I represented Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, at the suggestion of Rector Ramona Lile. During the meeting, we voted in favor of non-reimbursable EU funding for opening a technological high school in Hațeg, Hunedoara County.

Partnership with ADECCO Romania

To organize the Job Fair at UAV Arad, we had an initial discussion with ADECCO, one of Romania's largest recruitment and staffing companies. The discussions took place at the UAV headquarters, and Adecco provided the university with a list of over 150 companies that could offer job opportunities for UAV students.

Meeting with Takata Representatives

The meeting took place on February 5, 2018, at Takata Romania headquarters. Participants included Takata Romania Human Resources Director Loredana Ghițuică and representatives from Takata Romania's Recruiting team. Following the discussions, UAV opened a collaboration to set up a Takata booth at the UAV Job Fair in Arad and to organize a company presentation and job offers for students on March 16, 2018.

Factory Visit to Voestalpine Automotive

On February 6, 2018, a group of students visited SC Voestalpine Automotive Components in the industrial zone. Students observed the production process for spare parts for major car manufacturers worldwide. We also accessed Romania's only 8D laboratory, where prototype parts are examined before mass production. The company offered a student a job in the laboratory and another TCM student a job in the tool-making and design department.

Meeting with UAV Student League

On February 7, 2018, I attended a meeting with UAV students from various faculties, organized with the UAV Student League to discuss interview participation techniques. We reviewed company job offers from the western region and simulated several job interviews. Students also asked questions about visiting companies in Arad, and a list of preferred companies for visits was created.

UAV Job Fair

On March 16, 2018, the Job Fair for students was held at Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad in Micalaca, Building M. Over 40 companies from western Romania participated. The event, held on the ground floor of Building M, brought the region's largest employers face-to-face with students. More than 3,000 students attended the employer booths during the eight-hour event. Former Olympic and world champion Gabriela Szabo met with over 400 students, discussing career, perseverance, and dedication in career choices. Takata also organized a quality seminar showcasing their latest products, with over 70 students in attendance, many of whom received job offers on the spot.

Company Visit – Takata

On March 23, a group of engineering students, led by Professor Marius Balas, visited Takata. The visit covered several departments where future UAV graduates could work, following up on contacts made at the UAV Job Fair on March 16.

County Conference for Career Counselors in High Schools and Universities

On April 12, 2018, Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad organized the first edition of the County Conference for Career Counselors in high schools and universities through the Career Counseling and Guidance Center. The event aimed to highlight the workforce potential of high school and university graduates. Career counselors and business representatives were brought together, with all high school career counselors from Arad County attending. The conference laid the groundwork for a collaborative program to connect graduates with suitable employment opportunities and professional services.

Open Doors Day

On May 2, 2018, UAV held its Open Doors Day event. Over 1,000 high school seniors from Arad County attended, including representatives from all high schools in Arad. Each UAV faculty hosted booths, and UAV partners, including multinational companies, had booths to present post-graduation employment opportunities.

CJRAE Work Meeting

On May 9, 2018, the first meeting with CJRAE took place to establish a program for promoting UAV's Career Counseling and Guidance Center. Held at Moise Nicoară National College, the event led to organizing counseling sessions for high school graduates.

Presentation at Henri Coandă High School

On May 16, I organized a presentation of Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad at Henri Coandă Auto Technological High School, attended by over 50 graduating and younger students. The faculties of UAV and its accredited professional training courses were presented.

Presentation at the College of Food Industry

On May 17, 2018, a meeting was held with 11th-grade students at Arad's Technological College of Food Industry during the "School Otherwise" week. UAV presented positive examples and professional training courses for those who may not pass the Baccalaureate exam, with over 120 students and teachers in attendance.

Research Presentation at International Symposium

On May 22, 2018, I participated in the International Symposium and Regional Competition at the Technological College of Food Industry, presenting the research paper "Snowflake Generation," conducted at UAV Arad. The event was registered in the CAER registry, and a summary appeared in the event's specialized journal.

Centennial Project

In June, we began two Centennial projects submitted to the Ministry of Culture. One project was selected for implementation by December 7, 2018.

Ministry of Culture Project Preparation

On August 15, 2018, we initiated procedures for a project titled "Arad at the Great Union," to be submitted to the Ministry of Culture.

Optimizing Economic Activities

Starting September 3, we began evaluating the following UAV facilities for economic efficiency: the ITP Station at the Faculty of Engineering, UAV Printing House, and laboratories at the Faculty of Food Engineering. Proposals will be submitted to UAV management by September 20, 2018.

UAV Collaboration Agreement

Following efforts in August and September, on September 12, 2018, Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad became an official partner for the S24H ultramarathon and the National Ultra-Athletics Championship in Timișoara, with an agreement signed with the organizing club, SUPER SPORTS CLUB.

Participation in International Ultra-Athletics Championship

The S24H International Ultra-Athletics Championship and the 6, 12, and 24-hour National Running Championship were held in Timișoara from September 20-23, 2018. I met with the president of the Athletics Federation, Florin Florea, and the president of the International Ultra-Athletics Association, Nadeem Khan, extending UAV's invitation to collaborate on future projects. I also met representatives from Osana, a U.S.-based nutrition research company, and invited them to meet with UAV leadership.

Partners in the Arad Marathon, Half-Marathon, and Cross

The event took place on October 6, and starting October 1, UAV's Career Counseling and Guidance Center promoted it to students. UAV served as a logistical and human resource hub for the event. In addition to facilities provided by UAV, Vasile Blidar served as an event presenter, and UAV Rector Prof. Dr. Ramona Lile gave the opening remarks.

Conference "Choose Your Future"

For the first time, on October 10, 2018, Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad organized the "Choose Your Future" conference, primarily aimed at first-year students. This year’s theme was "Student and the Job Market," focusing on job opportunities and career perspectives for graduates. Nearly 300 students attended, representing all study years and specializations. Career guidance, including free CV review and interview preparation, was also provided during the event.
